6 Smart Marriage Tips From Prince William and Kate

You don't usually look to Britain's royal family for smart money-saving tips. Let's face it. They're hardly the brightest jewels in the tungsten jewelry box. And most of the time they're about 100 years out of date.

But let's give Prince William and Kate Middleton their due. If you're planning your own big day, you could pick up some useful tips from the royal couple. Here are six.

1. And stop worrying about the name.
I'm constantly baffled by the amount of time and energy brides put into whether or not the change their names. Really, a name is just a name. You can share your husband's last name or your father's. "Your" name is whatever you choose it to be.

2. Don't waste money on an engagement ring.
The world's top groom just gave the world's most envied bride a second hand tungsten ring.
Or, to put it another way: Royal Air Force flight lieutenant William Windsor just provided bridegrooms everywhere with air cover.

"I think a lot of grooms are going to be digging around in their mothers' jewelry boxes for hand-me-down ceramic rings," says Carley Romey, editor in chief of weddings website TheKnot.

How much did William and Kate save?
Tying the knot soon? Brett Arends has some tips for an economical wedding from an unlikely source: Prince William and Kate Middleton.

According to the latest survey by TheKnot, the average bridegroom spent $5,400 on an unique engagement ring last year. Admittedly, this survey only covers those couples which hired a professional vendor for their wedding, so the sample is skewed towards the bigger spenders. But the figure's not totally out of touch with reality.

Talk to any young couple today. It's become a competition.

The wedding-industrial complex, and most especially the jewelry industry, likes to tell grooms that they should spend "six weeks'" or even "two months' salary" on a rock.

Prince William works as a search and rescue pilot for Britain's Royal Air Force, where he is a flight lieutenant. Her Majesty's Ministry of Defence (sic) tells me the prince's annual salary is between 37,000 and 44,000 British pounds. On a purchasing-power basis that's the equivalent of between $47,000 and $56,000 a year.

In addition he gets an undisclosed income from his father's estate, the Duchy of Cornwall.

If he spent two months' of his flight lieutenant's salary on a ring, it would have cost him between $7,800 and $9,300 on the rock. Even if he only spent six weeks', we're talking $5,400 to $6,500.

If he spent two months or six weeks of his full income, including his royal stipend, the sum would be a lot more.

Instead he pulled a smart trick. He gave Kate a ring that was already in his family.

It's true, maybe he could have chosen something other than that old Dynasty prop. But at least it didn't cost him a penny.
3. Don't get too traditional about the bills.
You know the old rules. The bride's parents pays for the wedding, no matter what. The groom pays for the honeymoon.
Not anymore.
The groom's family is picking up most of the tab for this week's big wedding, for the simple reason that they're extremely wealthy. Kate Middleton's parents are pitching in a smaller amount.

They aren't poor. But they're hardly in the same financial league as the groom's family. Does anybody seriously suggest that they should be picking up the tab?

But why do we expect the bride's parents to do so in other cases where the groom's family is so much wealthier? It makes no sense.

This wedding "could establish a new world order, where everybody is pitching in equally, or the people who can afford to are pitching in more," says TheKnot's Romey.

Prince William won't be paying for the honeymoon either, according to reports out of London.

"I don't suppose William is paying for a thing," a good friend of his late mother's told me. Buckingham Palace, when I called, declined to comment.

If Prince William can get away with not paying for the honeymoon, other grooms can too.

4. Save on the vows wedding rings too.

William hasn't even had to go out and buy Kate a new women's wedding ring. He's having one made from a small amount of Welsh gold that was given to the royal family years ago. And he won't even have to pay for a second loyalty and love ring, as the prince himself won't wear one.

Okay, so wedding rings aren't typically a major cost. They're a lot less than the faux engagement ring. But gold prices are up 30% in a year and they've more than doubled over five years. Platinum's booming. Even silver has now taken off.
Hey, every bit helps.

5. Have two receptions.
The new couple, like most couples, have a short list of people they want to invite to their wedding. And a long list of people they have to invite.
Consider yourself lucky you just have to invite annoying Uncle Jack. William and Kate have to invite half the world's dictators, and an unappetizing variety of celebrities.
The solution: Two receptions. A big one in the afternoon, for everyone you have to invite. Then a smaller one in the evening, for those you wanted to invite.
It's cheaper, too, if you can fob off the first group with champagne and canapés.

6. Don't get hung up on a Saturday.
Why does everybody have to get married on Saturday?
Sure, it's convenient. Most of your guests already have the day off. But is that it?
Do the math. That venue you really want for your wedding isn't free on a Saturday until 2037. But it's free on another day in the week in two months' time. Why is this such a problem?
So, kudos to William and Kate for breaking with tradition and getting married on a Friday.
"Friday is a less expensive day to get married," says Romey. Venues are less crowded and cheaper. You may save money on other aspects of the wedding as well. Easy.

Don't believe me? Look at the royal couple.

I'm not talking about Kate Middleton – although I'm sure she has no problems changing her name to Kate Windsor.

I'm talking about Prince William's family.

Their family name didn't use to be Windsor. Until 1917 it was Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. They changed it – you can sort of see why – during the First World War, to sound less Germanic.

(At the time, German Kaiser Wilhelm II sarcastically asked whether Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor was about to be renamed The Merry Wives of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.)

The British royals didn't get hung up on a last name. Should anyone else?

LeAnn Rimes Flashes Her Whirlwind Wedding Ring

LeAnn Rimes Flashes Her Whirlwind Wedding Ring

It is only days since her romantic sunset wedding ceremony with new husband Eddie Cibrian.

But it was back to earth with a bump for LeAnn Rimes today as she landed in Toronto airport to film a new TV movie.

And as she walked through the airport, she clearly enjoyed flashing her wedding and engagement rings.

The 28-year-old country singer and actress showed off her three rose gold wedding bands, designed to symbolise Eddie and his sons Mason, seven, and four-year-old Jake.

The bands featured rose cut diamonds, and were designed by LeAnn's childhood friend, jeweller Brent Polacheck of Polacheck's jewellers.

'From the very beginning, LeAnn was very expressive about the importance and symbolism of three bands,' Polacheck tells People magazine.

'His boys are an incredibly important part of their lives and she wanted to incorporate her feelings for them into her white ceramic rings.'

The ceramic jewellery added a bit of dazzle to LeAnn's casual outfit of a tan coloured jacket, purple T-shirt and pale pink trousers.

LeAnn and Eddie exchanged vows in front of just 40 guests at their seafront home in Malibu, California, last Friday evening.

They continued the celebration on Saturday with a celebration brunch at  Malibu's Moonshadows restaurant with family and close friends.

LeAnn is in the Canadian city to film TV movie Reel Love about a successful, big city girl who returns to her small town roots after a family emergency only to find friends and romance.

see the lights, see the party, the ball gowns
see you make your way through the crowd --[white ceramic ring inlay gold ]--
and say hello, little did i know
that you were romeo, you were throwing pebbles
and my daddy said stay away from juliet
and i was crying on the staircase, begging you please don't go

i'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run

Love Story: Eclipses Next To Last Shuttle Flight

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head during an assassination attempt in January, has been cleared by doctors to watch her husband, Mark Kelly, be launched into space Friday aboard the space shuttle Endeavour.

Kelly told CBS' Katie Couric that doctors treating his wife gave her permission to fly from Houston to Cape Canaveral, Fla. On Sunday CBS released excerpts of the interview, which is scheduled to air tonight.[tungsten mens rings]

The Kelly-Giffords ordeal has been a national drama since Jan. 8, when the congresswoman was shot in the head at a meet-and-greet in her hometown of Tucson, Ariz.

The couple's love story - her struggle to survive a serious brain injury and her remarkable progress; his devotion to both his wife and NASA - has overshadowed Endeavour's final voyage and the looming end of the shuttle program.
[black ceramic rings]
Endeavour's scheduled 3:47 p.m. blastoff is expected to be a big draw on Florida's Space Coast.

The Obama family will attend, as will a congressional contingent and an estimated 40,000 other NASA guests. Plus, hundreds of thousands are expected to jam surrounding beaches and roadways, all eager to catch one of the last two space shuttle launches.

Part of the attraction: the real-life drama surrounding the 47-year-old astronaut and the 40-year-old congresswoman, married just three years when a bullet changed everything.[faceted CERAMIC rings]

The shooting rampage outside a supermarket left six dead and 13 injured, including Giffords.

Kelly rushed by private jet from Houston to Tucson with his two teenage daughters and his mother, as soon as he learned of the assassination attempt.

His shuttle co-pilot, Gregory Johnson, was also moving at rocket speed.

He opened his Houston home to the rest of the shuttle crew and their families that bleak Saturday night, as he struggled to come up with a game plan amid the shock waves.[woman's engagement ring]

"We wanted to deal with the emotions of all the kids. My daughter was completely beside herself," recalled Johnson.

The six astronauts, all men, have 15 children among them, from 3 to 17 years old.

For several weeks, Johnson and his crewmates didn't know whether Kelly would fly the April mission or whether the flight might be delayed.

But as the days went by, Giffords made steady progress. Her previous good health, great care "and maybe a little bit of luck" contributed to her swift improvement, Kelly said. "Or maybe people really thinking about her and praying for her." The astronaut's aunt is a Catholic nun.
[lowest priced tungsten carbide ring]
As it turns out, Pope Benedict XVI will make the first call from a pope to space during Endeavour's mission.

After a monthlong leave, Kelly returned to work in February at Johnson Space Center, bringing his wife with him to Houston for rehab. It's what she would have wanted, he said.

Kelly settled into a routine: early mornings with Giffords, taking her a newspaper and a cup of her favorite nonfat latte, then straight to Johnson for training, then back to the rehab center to say goodnight.

Almost certainly, Giffords will be kept out of public sight at the launch, as she has been since the shooting occurred.

It will be the 25th and final flight of Endeavour, NASA's youngest shuttle that was built to replace the Challenger and first soared in 1992, six years after the launch accident.

And it will be the second-to-last shuttle mission, as NASA winds down the 30-year shuttle program with one last fling by Atlantis in early summer.[tungston promise rings engraved]

Even the Nobel laureate whose $2 billion science experiment will be delivered to the International Space Station by the Endeavour crew doesn't seem to mind that his project is being overlooked.

"I have great admiration for Commander Kelly," said physicist Samuel Ting. "It takes great courage for him to do this.

"Really, it takes total dedication to do this."

$19 to copy Kate Middleton's Royal wedding band

$19 to copy Kate Middleton's Royal tungsten wedding band

FROM champagne tastes to beer budgets, you can get a copy of the world's most famous engagement ring.

Jewellers have been cashing in on the demand for replicas since it was revealed Prince William presented Kate Middleton with his late mother's ring when the couple announced their engagement in November.

Prince Charles paid about £28,500 in 1981 for the original.

Valued at more than £250,000 before Princess Diana's death in 1997, the ring she wore, which now belongs to Ms Middleton, is now believed to be worth £32 million ($49.4 million).

In the lead-up to the April 29 royal wedding replica rings have been big business. A Shiels "Princess Kate" for $349 has proved so popular the jewellery chain has sold more than 700.

However, royal fans can buy cheap and cheerful copies for as little as $9.99 from Lovisa.
Meanwhile Grahams Jewellers has sourced a replica valued at $35,000, for a VIP customer. Inspired by the royal ring it features an 8-carat Corundum deep blue Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 25 Hearts on Fire diamonds set in 18-carat white gold.

Middleton’s blue sapphire engagement ring has spurred a demand for replicas. Montana is the one of the largest American suppliers of the precious gem, with some of them adorning the British Royal jewels. Some copies with actual stones are going everywhere from $1000 to $1.5 million

Wedding bands just not
their thing

“Men who don’t wear their mens wedding rings are slime,” wrote ChicagoNow blogger Jenny Milk, while another Chicago blogger, Jenna Andersen of tungsten rings mall, said we shouldn’t demonize Prince William for his choice (Andersen’s husband doesn’t wear a band).
Thousands, maybe millions, of married men were peacefully sporting naked ring fingers until palace officials confirmed that Prince William would not be wearing a ceramic wedding band. Women in the blogosphere went bananas.

Some guys say they don’t wear a ring because they don’t believe it is essential to their marriage. They stand strong in their flouting of social convention, but not strong enough to be quoted in this story. “I don’t want people to think I’m an [expletive],” said one ringless Atlanta man, who asked not to be identified.

Then there are the men who fall into the category of not wearing rings for religious reasons.

But even that really comes down to individual choice, depending on the faith.

“We do have some of our ministers who chose not to wear tungsten carbide  jewelry, at their discretion that sometimes does include not even wearing a vows wedding band, but it is what we call a personal conviction,” said David Jackson, executive administrative assistant for the United Pentecostal Church International.
The practice, he said, is based on the Bible principle of being modest and not adorning yourself with ceramic jewelry.

Most of the married women wear promise rings for the purpose of publicly identifying that they are married, Jackson said. And no doubt some of those women smell a double standard.
Last year, nearly 50,000 people responded to a poll on AOL’s Blackvoices.com asking “Are married men who don’t wear unique tungsten wedding rings up to no good?” More than half the respondents said it depends, 32 percent said not at all, and 16 percent — a very vocal minority — said absolutely.

Japanese earthquake and tsunami causes fall in exports

Japan's exports fell for the first time in 16 months in March, hit by the fallout from last month's massive earthquake and tsunami, which destroyed factories and damaged ports.

Car exports especially took a beating as the disasters forced Toyota, Honda and Nissan to suspend their Japanese production due to shortages of components.[tungsten rings]

Vehicle exports, which account for 10% of Japan's total shipments, plunged 27.8% in March, the finance ministry reported on Wednesday.

"It is very frustrating for automakers and other manufacturers," said Hiroshi Watanabe, an economist at the Daiwa Institute of Research. "Despite steady demand abroad, they simply could not make their products due to a supply crunch following the disasters."[black ceramic wedding bands his and hers]

Overall exports in March declined 2.2% to 5.87 trillion yen (£43bn), marking the first year-on-year fall in 16 months. Imports rose 11.9% to ¥5.67tn last month, the ministry said. The trade surplus for the month was ¥196.5bn, down 78.9 % from a year earlier.

The magnitude-9.0 earthquake and tsunami on 11 March, which killed about 25,000 people, destroyed many factories in north-eastern Japan, crippling production of car parts and other industrial components. The disasters also damaged ports and an airport in the region, severely hampering exports.[tungsten carbide rings]

Hajime Inoue, an economist at the Japan Research Institute, warned the fall in exports could worsen to 20-30% in the coming months.

"At least for March, some manufacturers were able to keep limited output by relying on stock. But, by now, stock will be gone, forcing companies to completely shut down production," he said.

Japan's exports to the US declined 3.4% to ¥828.7bn, the first year-on-year fall in 15 months. Asia-bound exports slipped to ¥3.4tn, marking the first fall in 17 months.[grooved tungsten rings]

Japanese exports to China edged up 3.8%, while those to the EU grew 4.3% in March.

The parts shortage after the disasters forced Toyota, the world's leading carmaker, to halt its entire production in Japan from 14-25 March. The company said the disasters caused a production loss of 260,000 cars. It has now resumed production at half normal levels.[womens tungsten rings ]

About 46% of Toyota vehicles made in Japan were shipped for export last year. Nissan exported more than half its Japan car production and Honda about 30%.

Nissan shut down all Japanese output for three days after 11 March, while Honda halted operations at all its factories in Japan from 14 March to 10 April.

Prince William and Kate's Wedding Gift a Fitting Tribute

Prince William and Kate's Wedding Gift a Fitting Tribute

$25,000 donation in line with royals' request
The province's wedding gift to Prince William and Kate Middleton is a $25,000 donation to seven Alberta youth shelters, including Edmonton's Youth Emergency Shelter Society.

"We think it's awesome. We are delighted to be chosen," said Deb Cautley, the executive director of YESS. YESS will receive a $7,500 donation as part of the wedding gift to the royal couple.[tungsten rings]

Other recipients of the donations include Fort McMurray's Stepping Stones Youth Shelter and the Grande Prairie Youth Emergency Shelter Society.[wholesale tungsten carbide jewelry]

"It's a gift I know the royal couple will support," Premier Ed Stelmach said. "It's a gift that is going to go on for many years."

The contribution will be made in the royal couple's name.

The couple, who will marry April 29 at Westminster Abbey, have said they would prefer well-wishers make a donation to a charity instead of sending gifts.
Prince William has advocated for homeless youth in the United Kingdom, Cautley said, adding the prince spent a night sleeping outside on a cardboard bed to raise awareness about disadvantaged youth.[tungsten rings shell inlay]

"It really, really fits in with what we do," she said. The money will go toward the shelter's social programs, including those that provide support for pregnant teens.

Robert Finch, dominion chairman of the Monarchist League of Canada, said Alberta's gift "fits very nicely" into the couple's request. The Government of Canada will not reveal its gift until the royal wedding day.[tungsten carbide ring all sizes]

Following their wedding, the couple is expected to visit Alberta. The schedule for their tour has not yet been set.

Patriotic citizens buying bunting and other party equipment, as well as less fervent consumers buying a few extra bottles of beer to enjoy while watching the event on television, will add an extra £480 million to the tills of supermarkets and shops, the study suggested.

Right Royal wedding: Kate chooses wedding dress

Right Royal wedding: Kate  chooses wedding dress

From Alexander McQueen to Jasper Conran, there are few British fashion houses that have not been reported as Kate Middleton's choice of wedding dress and wedding bands designer since her engagement to Prince William was announced last November.
Miss Middleton is determined that her gown remains a secret until the wedding day, meaning the real designer would not be allowed to con–firm anything to the media.

The Huffington Post website claimed that St James's Palace had decided not to announce the designer's name "to protect Cranston and her family from media scrutiny for as long as possible and to allow her the freedom to create the wedding gown of Catherine's dreams without additional pressures and distractions".[gentlemen tungsten cermamic ring]

Miss Cranston's clients include Emma Watson.

But yesterday a farmer's daughter who set up her own little–known label nine years ago emerged as a surprise candidate for the most coveted commission of the decade.

Reports in the US named Sophie Cranston, founder of the Libélula studio, as the woman whose creation Miss Middleton will be wearing when she walks down the aisle next week.[tungsten wedding bridal ring]

The 34–year–old Londoner, who has a shop in Chelsea and a studio in Spain, has previously worked for Alexander McQueen, whose creative director, Sarah Burton, is currently the bookmakers' favourite.

In January Miss Middleton wore a velvet dress coat by Libélula, which is Spanish for dragonfly, at a friend's wedding in Yorkshire,a elegant tungsten ring. Miss Cranston, whose father James is a farmer in Norfolk, was unavailable for comment yesterday.

Her mother, Mary, who lives in Northamptonshire, said: "I'm sure it's not the case. Kate Middleton happened to wear one of Sophie's coats earlier in the year then we saw that the bookmakers had put my daughter at 16/1 as the designer of the wedding dress."

Williams invites former homeless woman to wedding

Prince William touches down in cyclone-damaged Cardwell in Queensland, Australia, on only its second sunny day in two weeks. Kind-hearted Prince William has made a former homeless woman’s dreams come true by inviting her to his wedding to Kate Middleton.
British woman Shozna found herself out of a home when she suffered a stoke aged 18 and had to have heart surgery.

Homeless charity Centrepoint, of which William is a patron, helped find her a home and turn her life around and she was giving a speech at a charity gala when she came face to face with the prince himself. [cheap mens tungsten rings]

She told The Mirror: “Prince William came up to me before and calmed my nerves. He said ‘good luck’ and cracked a few jokes. After the speech he called me over. He was like an uncle or a brother or something.”[ceramic wedding bands]

She didn’t expect to hear from him again but was thrilled when an invitation to the April 29 ceremony came through her letter box. “I feel so, so lucky. Kristen Stewart,Robert Pattinson Ring Rumor Rings Hollow

Kristen Stewart,Robert Pattinson Ring Rumor Rings Hollow
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are considered to be in a relationship, but is the fetching “Twilight” hunk ready to take it to the next level with a “tungsten promise rings

The rumor originated in OK magazine, and was quickly mimicked by other gossip Web sites, such as HollywoodLife, eager for page views from gullible Twihard fans. But the stories appear to be greatly exaggerated.

A number of sites, including gossipcop are now claiming the story is not only bogus, but ridiculous.

Pattinson reported had “picked out the perfect gift” for Stewart, who just turned 21 last week. It was supposed to be a vintage $17,000 diamond “vows promise ring.”

As usual, the magazine cited an “insider,” who said the actor “found it through a dealer who specializes in tungsteng jewelry, and he knew it was just perfect for Kristen!”

“The tungsten engraving ring is rose-cut diamonds set in rose gold. It’s a very feminine piece of jewellery and very old,” a supposed insider told web site celebritymania.

As if ceramic  promise rings even existed back then. Plus, who is Rob, Joe Jonas?

Apparently Rob stopped short of a real tungsten engagement ring, because neither he nor Kristen are quite ready to walk down the aisle.

Rob and Kristen seem a little too mature to be playing around with personal promise rings.

Many of the off-screen marriage rumors appear to be fueled by the fact that their “Twilight” characters Edward Cullen and Bella Swan get married and have a baby in the last two segments of the “Twilight” series, “Breaking Dawn” Part 1 and Part 2.

“The shiny bauble has certain gullible outlets like HollywoodLife asking,’ Could a wedding be next?’” gossipcop reported.

But alas, the “promise ring,” is just as bogus as reports in the magazine about a baby, wedding plans and breakups.

What is true is that the “Twilight” cast and crew held a birthday party at Rockwell’s Bar and Grill in Squamish, Vancouver, and bought Stewart a motorcycle as a present.

Okay, it’s not a loyalty and love ring, but a motorcycle is still a pretty cool gift.

Symbol of Love:The History of the Wedding Bands

The wedding band, that most famous and instantly recognizable symbol of the (hopefully perpetual) joining of a man and a woman as husband and wife in the institution of marriage, has a long, wide spread and mysterious history. Its beginnings lie in the deserts of North Africa, where the ancient Egyptian civilization sprang up along the fertile flood plains of the river Nile. This river was bringer of all fortune and life to the Pharaoh's people and from plants growing on its' banks were the first wedding rings fashioned. Sedges, rushes and reeds, growing alongside the well-known papyrus were twisted and braided into tungsten rings for fingers and larger bracelets for wrists.

The ceramic rings is of course a circle and this was the symbol of eternity for the Egyptians as well as many other ancient cultures. It had no beginning and no end, like time. It returned to itself, like life; and the shape was worshipped in the form of the Sun and the Moon. The hole in the center of the antique tungsten wedding rings is not just space either; it is important in its own right as the symbol of the
gateway, or door; leading to things and events both known and unknown.

It is not difficult therefore, to see how the ring and the gift of a mens tungsten rings  began to be associated with love, in the hope that this most worthy of emotions could take on the characteristics of the circle and capture eternity.

They wore it like we do today, on the third finger of the left hand, because of a belief that the vein of that finger directly traveled from the heart. This legend was later taken up by the Greeks, when they conquered Egypt under the generalship of Alexander the Great in 332 B.C. and from them passed onto the Romans, who called this the 'vena amoris', which is Latin for 'the vein of love'.

These early good luck rings usually lasted about a single year before wear and tear took their inevitable toll. Hemp was probably the first choice, but some decided that they wanted a longer lasting material, and opted for leather, bone or ivory to craft their token of love.

Six hairstylists and one ring-Royal wedding recap

Long-awaited good finally coming:

In this week's edition: What will Pippa wear, who will style Kate's hair, will William don a love ring, what does the couple with everything really need, and finally, a celebratory cocktail.

Tungsten Wedding rings
BBC reports that after the engagement announcement, Queen Elizabeth presented Prince William with some gold from Clogau St David's mine, used to make the wedding bands of the Queen, Queen Mother and Princess Diana. William is meant to create Kate's ceramic wedding ring from this gold. As for William's wedding ring, a spokesman for St. James Palace revealed that the Prince has chosen not to wear a promise rings. This break with tradition is ruffling some feathers among commentators and the general public in Britain. However, it's not the first time this has happened; Prince Charles wears a band, but his father, the Duke of Edinburgh does not.

Wedding gifts
William and Kate have set up a charitable gift fund that includes wildlife and environment protection agencies; children's arts and sports funds, military services and home and family care. That doesn't mean, however, that they don't have a wedding gift list that they've given to friends and family. The Daily Mail reports that, though there are few details, the couple is asking for help setting up their cottage in Anglesey, South Wales, where they will live to be close to Prince William's RAF base.

Royal cocktails
London-brand Beefeater has created a Royal Punch to commemorate William and Kate. The popular liquor company is not the first to come up with the idea but Beefeater's recipe gives a nod to North American royal watchers by adding lemonade, not commonly taken by the British) to the mix. Other ingredients are Dubonnet, to mark the Queen's enjoyment of the drink as an aperitif, and pomegranate juice which represents marriage. See recipe below.

Wish they happiness all lifetime.

Local tie the knot singer makes a career out of juggling gigs

Today, Edwards manages and sings with LPH and manages or books Broad Street Exit, Skin Deep and Phase 2. The groups play a lot of weddings and parties.

Q: Are the bands that you manage complementary? They are not identical are they?

A: Well, I will say they are complementary in the sense that with Love, Peace & Happiness, traditionally we’ve had six males. With Broad Street Exit, in some ways I’ve built a more versatile band. There are female singers and horn players. They are integrated and not just black-white but females.-womengs tungsten rings

Q: How many shows a year do you guys do?

A: About 35. That’s enough — sometimes more than enough — and that is part of the reason I had to come up with another band. We sort of got into the niche of doing weddings, and we have to handle a lot of requests.

Q: So you’re saying if I come to you and I want the Commodores and “Achy Breaky Heart” and you can’t do “Achy Breaky,” you’ll go find somebody?

A: Right. I had one young lady who came to me and said, “I can’t do this song,” and I said, “The song is going to be done. The client wants it done.”-tungsten engagement rings

With my theater background, I’ve always understood you have to have understudies. Each one of the members has played with each band. A lot of our people are professional people. Ken Parks teaches at the Baylor School and is music director at his church. He is super busy and sometimes he needs a break. We all need a break sometimes. You have to allow time for people to refresh themselves.

Q: What is the average size of these groups.

A: Six or seven people.

Q: Is there any song you won’t do.

Q: At the end of the night, how do you know you’ve had a successful gig?-ceramic rings china

A: We know during the show, when people are up there with us dancing or on stage singing with us. We get notes from people saying, “I didn’t know my mother could dance.” That’s fun.

A: No. These guys love a challenge. They get pretty bored with the regular stuff. Give us a challenge.

Q: When you perform with Love, Peace & Happiness, what do you do?

A: I’m one of the lead singers. But, one of the things I did was make sure all of the singers and performers are better than me and I have no problem with that. Most people don’t want to handle the business part of it and I do. I do play a little bass, a little keyboards and a little drums.

Valitus Edwards Sr. got his first taste of performing in a band in the early 1970s while a student at UTC. Marriage, children and the Vietnam War broke the band apart in 1975.

When someone proposed doing a documentary on Chattanooga musicians that once performed on Ninth Street (now M.L. King Boulevard), Edwards and a fellow charter member of the old band, Lutrell Brown, put the group back together to perform as part of the project.

That was in 1994, and the band has been together ever since as Love, Peace & Happiness.

A New York City woman was also arrested on a warrant after allegedly crashing her car into a ditch while drunk.

Theft: An tungsten carbide pop the question ring valued at $12,000 was reported missing from a West Ave. residence. Police said the ceramic  ring, which included one large and two smaller diamonds, was last seen by the owner two or three weeks earlier. The item had been kept in a tungsten jewelry box in the top drawer of the master bedroom dresser, though nothing else appeared to have been taken from the box. "Certain people have access to the house," according to Capt. Fred Komm, and the matter remains under investigation.

Marijuana Possession: Christian Vazquez, 29, Ashton Thevenin, 29, and Juan Rangel, 29 — all of Stamford — were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana following a traffic stop. Vazquez was also charged with failure to wear a seatbelt.

According to Komm, a search of the vehicle turned up an unsmoked blunt in the driver's side door, 3.6g worth of marijuana in a bag in the trunk, and additional quantities of the drug in Rangel's and Thevenin's possession. The three were arrested and released on $500 bond apiece. They are set to appear in court April 8.

According to police, the three were traveling westbound on Post Road near Richmond Drive around 6 p.m. when an officer noticed Vazquez — the driver — wasn't wearing a seatbelt. The officer stopped the vehicle on the southbound exit 13 onramp and, upon approaching the vehicle, reportedly noticed a strong odor of marijuana. Police said Vazquez admitted to having just smoked a blunt.

Burglaries: Two downtown locations were reported burglarized over the weekend. The first, a photographer's studio at 975 Post Rd., was ransacked sometime between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning, the photographer told police. When she arrived around 11 a.m. Monday, she noticed someone had entered the studio, rifled through her desk, and stolen several items. Missing were a projector valued at $1,300, a CD burner valued at $300, and an MP3 player valued at $600. Police believe the thief may have entered through a window.

Later, police received a report that Kids Care Clubs (975 Post Rd.), had also been broken into sometime over the weekend. Several items were moved around and a fax machine was removed from its package, but nothing appeared to have been taken, Komm said.

United Kingdom Will Hold "Thousands" Of Royal Wedding Street Parties

Thousands of street parties will be held across Britain to celebrate Prince William's marriage to Kate Middleton next month, local government officials said on Saturday, as royal wedding fever grips parts of the country.

In London alone, some 500 requests have been made to councils to close down roads so locals can get out the bunting and set up their fold-up tables for the traditional get-togethers, held in honor of major state occasions.

"Street parties are an established part of British culture, they're a great way for people to meet their neighbors and strengthen community bonds," said Chris White from the Local Government Association (LGA).(unusual tungsten rings)

In total, some 4,000 applications for parties have been made so far across England and Wales, the LGA said.

According to Britain's Mirror newspaper, one of the applications has come from Prime Minister David Cameron for a party outside his official Downing Street residence.

Elsewhere, those living in the county of Hertfordshire, north of London, are proving particularly excited by the upcoming nuptials, making 135 requests for street parties, while there have been 85 from Kent to the southeast of the capital.(gentleman ceramic rings)

However, there appears to somewhat of a north/south divide, with fewer applications being submitted to northern councils.

Places such as Blackpool, the seaside resort in northwest England, and Gateshead, in northeast England, have recorded just one request each.
